Black Mountain Roast is based in the foothills of the Black Mountains near Hay-on-Wye in Wales, roasting in what they describe as a barn setting. The business is run by founders Simon and Mungo and supplies both individual coffee drinkers and stockists across the UK.
Alongside coffee, the roastery also produces a range of spirits, gin, and a coffee liqueur made from their beans, which sets them apart from the typical roastery model. Their sourcing includes a Colombian Pink Bourbon from Finca Diviso, grown by Nestor Lasso at high altitude in the Colombian Andes, and a Nicaraguan from the Matagalpa and Jinotega regions, both of which they name and describe in detail.
