Common Coffee is a specialty roaster based at Rosemains Steading in Pathhead, Midlothian, just outside Edinburgh. Founded in 2018 by Jason, the business runs a deliberately tight range structured by flavour rather than origin: Bold, Strong, Sweet, Bright, Complex, plus a decaf and an instant.

The intention is to make specialty coffee approachable for customers who do not want to memorise washed Colombians or naturals from Ethiopia. Roasting is done on a 12kg electric Probat, which Common positions as part of a longer-term commitment to lower-emissions coffee and more consistent batch control.

Beans are packed in fully recyclable bags. The wholesale side supplies cafes, hotels, offices and retail, paired with equipment from La Marzocco, Victoria Arduino and WMF.

The flavour-profile shelf, with seasonal beans rotating behind fixed names, is the editorial decision that distinguishes Common from roasters who change their whole lineup with the harvest cycle.
