Cooper & Co, established in 1834 and trading in Jersey since 1890, is one of the Channel Islands’ oldest and most established coffee roasters. Originally founded by Thomas Cooper, Richard Cooper, and John Stringer as a commodity trading venture in London, the company has evolved into a significant presence in Jersey’s specialty coffee scene.

Operating from four strategic locations across Jersey, their main roasting and packing operation is headquartered at 57 Halkett Place in St. Helier. The company has expanded to include three cafés: one at Castle Quay on the Waterfront, another at the Co-Op Grand Marché, and their newest licensed café at IFC 5 in St. Helier.

As a long-standing member of the Fairtrade Foundation, Cooper & Co demonstrates strong commitment to ethical sourcing. Their direct trade relationships are strengthened through origin visits, having travelled to Peru, Bolivia, India’s Araku Valley, Northern Sumatra, Myanmar, and most recently Honduras, ensuring quality and traceability in their supply chain.

The company serves over 300 wholesale accounts across Jersey, ranging from corporate offices to Michelin-starred restaurants and beach cafés. Their business model includes comprehensive support for wholesale partners, offering free training and consultancy services.

Environmental responsibility is central to their operation, with recognition as an “Eco-Active” business under the States of Jersey environmental scheme. Their community engagement extends beyond coffee service, supporting local charities and environmental initiatives while maintaining traditional values alongside modern business practices. Their commitment to quality, sustainability, and community involvement has established them as a cornerstone of Jersey’s coffee culture.
