Fika Coffee Roasters was founded in 2020 by husband and wife Matt Mitchell and Lynn Hepple, and is based at a roastery on Langley Park's Riverside Industrial Estate in County Durham. The name comes from the Swedish concept of a social coffee break, and the brand draws on Swedish folk art for its visual identity.

The couple's interest in speciality coffee developed during six years in Melbourne, where the café culture shaped how they thought about roasting. The roastery is open Monday to Friday and welcomes visitors for collection.

Fika supplies home customers and trade accounts across the UK, with origins spanning Timor-Leste, Rwanda, Uganda, Brazil and Colombia. Green beans are sourced via importers who hold certifications including Rainforest Alliance.

The team includes a head roaster and a dedicated creative role alongside the founders.
