Hometown Coffee Roasters was founded in North Berwick in July 2017 by Andrew, who had been working in coffee shops and competing in UK Barista Championships from the age of 16. Roasting began in June 2019 once the business bought its first machine.
The roastery has since moved to East Linton in East Lothian, around five miles from where it started. Rosie joined as co-owner in 2023, and the team remains the two of them.
The brand positions itself as a mindful roaster, focused on roasting exceptional coffee while staying conscious of where it comes from and how it is packaged. The current line-up spans Brazil, Nicaragua, Peru, Colombia and Uganda, with a Colombian decaf alongside the regular range.
The business sells whole beans and ground online, runs a subscription, supplies wholesale, and operates set opening hours at the East Linton site Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
