Kontext Coffee Company is a specialty roastery on the Monmouthshire and Herefordshire border, founded by Katja Klein after eight years of barista work, coffee sommelier training and roastery experience that began in 2011. The roastery operates from a small unit at Wyastone Business Park in the Wye Valley, roasting on a Probatone P12 and working exclusively with single origins from countries including Brazil, Guatemala and Uganda.
Sourcing focuses on short, transparent supply chains and equity in trade, with no blends in the line up. The decaf is a Brazilian Fazenda Recreio processed using ethyl acetate.
Visitors are welcome on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 14:30, when freshly roasted coffee is sold alongside take away drinks and cookies. Home barista coaching sessions are offered at the roastery, along with a wholesale programme and a free Coffee Club for regulars.
