The Isle of Wight Espresso Company started in the late 1990s as a commercial equipment and coffee importer, initially bringing in Astoria machines and Bristot coffee from Italy after identifying a lack of industry support on the Island. Roasting began in 2010 at their Caffe Isola café in Newport, and commercial roasting moved to a dedicated site on the banks of the River Medina in 2013.
Their roaster line-up includes a Diedrich IR12 and a restored vintage Vittoria 20kg machine sourced from Sicily, giving them a combined production capacity suited to wholesale alongside retail. In 2014, Island Roasted was awarded Wight Marque status, a certification that recognises products genuinely made on the Isle of Wight.
By 2017 they had relocated to the former Beavis building in Newport, converting it into a roastery café and retail space that opened before Christmas that year, with a first-floor retail gallery following in December 2018. They supply equipment from brands including Astoria, Storm, Rocket, Ascaso, Fiorenzato, and Marco, offer SCA-certified barista training, and provide water treatment and machine servicing across the Island.
