The roastery maintains a focused approach to their coffee programme, emphasising quality over quantity in their carefully curated selection of specialty coffees. Their offering includes both single-origin coffees and their house blend, “Shed Brew,” with guest roasts regularly introducing new flavour profiles from various origins worldwide.
Sustainability forms a cornerstone of their business model. The Milk Shed has committed to the “1% for the Planet” initiative, pledging 1% of all sales to environmental causes. This commitment extends to their sourcing practices, where they prioritise responsibly sourced specialty coffee and maintain transparency in their supply chain.
Their roastery café, open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, serves as both a coffee bar and a community hub where customers can watch the roasting process in action. The space provides a direct connection between the roasting operation and local coffee enthusiasts, while also serving as a training ground for wholesale partners.
Under the leadership of founder and CEO Oliver Hyde, The Milk Shed has developed strong wholesale partnerships while maintaining a robust direct-to-consumer presence through their online platform. They offer comprehensive support to their wholesale clients, including training and technical assistance, while providing home brewers with both subscription services and one-off purchases, complemented by a carefully selected range of brewing equipment.
