The Studio Coffee Roasters is based in County Meath on the east coast of Ireland, where founder Alan Phillips roasts specialty coffee by the sea. Phillips trained under Kees Kraakmann of Keppler Coffee in Amsterdam and is a certified member of the European Specialty Coffee Association.
The business imports from 14 countries, roasting single-origin lots on a 15kg Giesen, and still sources from two of the original farms in Ethiopia and El Salvador with which they started. Their cold brew has won a 3-Star Great Taste Award in 2024, and their El Salvador Bosque Lya won a Great Taste Award in 2023.
On the sustainability side, part of their energy use comes from renewable sources, waste coffee chaff goes to a local farmer for crop use, and most coffee sacks used in sourcing are paper or recycled material.
