Trading Post opened its first site in January 2017 on Ship Street in Brighton, combining an open-view roastery with a coffee bar and food menu. The format proved popular enough that they expanded into Kensington Gardens and then Lewes, and by 2024 had grown to 10 coffee houses across Sussex.

Main roasting operations are now based in a dedicated facility on the outskirts of Brighton. The business is family-run and independently owned, supplying several hundred wholesale accounts across the UK alongside its own sites.

They hold Rainforest Alliance and Soil Association Organic certifications. The roasting team has roots in three generations of coffee roasters, and the dedicated training hub at the main roastery is available to wholesale partners.
