Wild Pen Coffee Roasters is based in Pendle, Lancashire, roasting in sight of Pendle Hill. The business focuses exclusively on Costa Rican coffee, sourcing from Aquiares Farm, a Rainforest Alliance certified producer in the Turrialba Volcano region.
The founders travelled to Costa Rica to visit Aquiares in person, staying at the farm's hacienda and touring the processing plant on horseback. Wild Pen is itself Rainforest Alliance endorsed, a certification tied directly to its supply relationship with Aquiares.
The roastery develops its profiles to a City to Full City medium roast, which it describes as suited to the character of Costa Rican coffees. Microlots and specific bean varietals from Aquiares are available alongside the main range, including an anaerobic process lot.
