Bro Coffee was founded in 2016 by Brenda Johnston, a County Down pilates instructor, and her husband Michael, after Brenda grew tired of mediocre coffee from forecourts and convenience stores. The roastery sits in Co.

Down, Northern Ireland, and roasts in small batches on a Loring Smart Roaster under licence. Bro uses a dual roasting process that combines drum and convection methods, designed to remove more chaff and deliver a smoother cup.

The brand built its reputation supplying coffee shops, garages and convenience retailers across Ireland, brewing around 15,000 takeaway cups a week, before launching the Bro At Home retail line for home drinkers. The range covers blends, single origins and decaf, alongside teas, hampers and brewing kit.

Bro was the first company in Ireland to move to fully compostable bags and grinds, branded as Eco Bro. Awards include the double-award-winning Sketrick house blend and triple-award-winning De Bro decaf.
