Capital Coffee was founded in 1982 by Roy Grey in south-west London as a wholesale coffee and equipment business. The business remained family-run throughout, with Roy's children John and Andy taking over in 2023.
John has spent most of his career within Capital Coffee; Andy ran his own cafe in Melbourne before returning to the UK and joining the business. The two brothers now lead the company together.
Capital Coffee operates as a full-service commercial supplier: coffee beans roasted in London, machine sales and servicing, barista training, and subscriptions for home drinkers. Nespresso-compatible pods are also part of the range.
The company documents its forest restoration activity, noting 2 square metres of restoration tracked since June 2024.
