Caravan began in 2010 on Exmouth Market in London, founded by three New Zealanders, Laura, Miles, and Chris, who had worked in the restaurant industry together before moving to the UK.

The original Exmouth Market site established the all-day dining and freshly roasted coffee format that now runs across seven London locations plus an outlet in Manchester.
The roastery and coffee school operate alongside the restaurant group. Caravan is a certified B Corp.
Its sourcing approach is built around direct trade relationships and includes a Female Producer Programme, a deliberate focus on coffees grown and processed by women-led farms and cooperatives. Wholesale supply and subscriptions are available independently of the restaurants.
