Caribe Coffee Co. is a family business based in Northumberland, founded by Wilmer Carcamo, who grew up in Honduras, and his wife Elle, who is from the area. Wilmer's family has connections to coffee farming in Honduras, and the roastery sources exclusively from that country, working directly with producers in a market where Honduran coffee is underrepresented in the UK speciality sector.
The business started at a market stall in Morpeth before growing into an online retailer and wholesale supplier. Caribe appeared on Dragons' Den on BBC One, which gave it national visibility, and the business now claims over 30,000 customers.
As well as its direct retail and wholesale operation, Caribe offers a franchise model for people looking to start their own coffee business using the Caribe supply chain and brand. The range includes micro-lots and specialty grade SHG lots from named farms and regions across Honduras.
