Climpson & Sons, established in 2002, began as a modest market stall on Broadway Market in Hackney, London, and has since evolved into one of London’s pioneering specialty coffee roasters. The company maintains its original café at 67 Broadway Market whilst operating their main roasting facility under the railway arches in nearby London Fields.
In September 2023, they achieved B Corp certification with a notable score of 110.4, significantly exceeding the required minimum of 80. Their sustainability initiatives include real-time carbon emissions tracking and transparent sourcing practices. The company operates across three main locations: their flagship café, the roastery, and Climpson’s Arch—an innovative space combining coffee roasting with brewing and barbecue.
Their approach to coffee focuses on direct trade relationships and seasonal offerings, working closely with producers to ensure quality and ethical sourcing. The roastery supplies their own retail locations and a carefully selected wholesale network across the UK.
