Cafeology is a Sheffield speciality coffee company founded in 2003 by Bryan Unkles and Andy McClatchey. The business is still independently owned by its founders and operates an in-house roastery, Roastology, on the former Tinsley Cooling Towers site at 4 Vantage Park, Coborn Avenue, Sheffield S9 1DA.
Roasting is done on Diedrich machines, an IR-12 alongside a CR35 and DR25. Sourcing is direct trade led, with long-term partnerships including M&M Pura Vida in Costa Rica, the CENCOIC indigenous cooperative in Cauca Colombia, Racafe in Colombia and Legender Export Group in Brazil.
Cafeology has pledged to be carbon neutral by the end of 2025, is pursuing PAS 2060 verification, and is working towards B Corp accreditation. The company holds ISO 9001 and SALSA certifications and won Made in Sheffield 2024.
Decaf is offered via the Swiss Water process, with retail and subscription handled through the Roastology brand.
