B Corp certification is one of the hardest to earn in any industry. It does not just look at your coffee or your sourcing. It audits the entire business: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Only 14 UK coffee roasters have passed.
That number is small for a reason. The B Impact Assessment is a 200 question audit that takes months to complete. You need a verified score of 80 out of 200, and the median score for businesses that take it is 50. It is not something you can bluff your way through.
For coffee drinkers, B Corp status means the roaster has been independently verified as meeting high standards across every part of their operation. Not just how they source coffee, but how they pay staff, how they handle packaging, how they measure their carbon footprint, and how they treat the communities around them.
