New Ground Coffee is an Oxford-based B Corp roastery built around a social mission: helping people leaving prison find work and avoid reoffending. The business runs as two linked entities, the trading company New Ground Group Ltd and the NewGround Foundation, a registered charity that holds the largest single shareholding in the company so profits feed back into the mission.
The Foundation runs the NewGround Academy, an in-prison coffee and barista training programme, supports graduates into industry jobs on release, and arranges Release On Temporary Licence work placements where eligible. Roasting happens at the Newground Workshop in Oxford (OX3 7BU), which also serves as a customer-facing site.
The current single origin range features named producers including Edinson Argote in Colombia, the Dukundekawa cooperative in Rwanda and Cruz Loma in Ecuador. They sell whole bean and ground coffee online, run a subscription, and supply wholesale customers across the UK.
