Eleven14 Coffee Roasters, based in Limerick’s Annacotty Business Park, was founded by former professional rugby player Keith Earls. The roastery’s distinctive name derives from the two positions (11 and 14) Earls played throughout his 15-year rugby career.
The founder’s journey into coffee roasting began experimentally, using a popcorn maker in his kitchen to roast green beans sourced globally. This hands-on approach, combined with guidance from established roasteries, helped develop the company’s roasting expertise and philosophy.
The roastery specialises in specialty-grade Arabica coffees, offering a range of single-origin beans and carefully crafted blends. Their portfolio includes distinctive offerings such as their No.11 Blend and the No.14 Blend—a tribute to Earls’ rugby jersey numbers. Recent additions include beans from Mexico, El Salvador, and Peru’s Pertfiles region.
What sets Eleven14 apart is their commitment to relationship building across their supply chain, from producers to consumers. Their approach to sourcing emphasises both quality and ethical partnerships, reflecting Earls’ global perspective gained through his sporting career.
The company operates from a modern facility in Limerick, marking a significant milestone as the city’s first coffee roasters. Their business model combines retail and wholesale operations, with a strong emphasis on education and community engagement through their blog and brewing guides.
Eleven14’s ethos centres on the social aspect of coffee culture, drawing from Earls’ experience of coffee as a universal connector across different cultures and communities in professional sport.
