Fika Coffee Roasters is based at Riverside Industrial Estate in Langley Park, County Durham, and takes its name from the Swedish concept of a social coffee break. The roastery runs a Giesen 15kg machine, which lets the team serve everything from home subscribers to larger hospitality accounts.
Coffees are roasted to order in small batches and dispatched within days of roasting. The current line up spans Colombia, Brazil, Rwanda, Uganda, Timor-Leste and El Salvador, with named producers including Jairo Arcila, Luis Anibal Calderon and Luz Helena Salazar, alongside Fika's own espresso and seasonal blends.
The decaf is a Colombian Atunkaa lot processed using sugarcane EA. Sourcing combines importer relationships with direct links to farmers in Uganda and Brazil, and some lots carry Rainforest Alliance or UTZ certification.
The roastery is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm, for collections, and the wholesale offer covers coffee, barista training, bespoke blends, custom labels and leasing or purchase of espresso machines and grinders from brands such as Victoria Arduino, Conti, La Spaziale and San Remo. Free local delivery is available in the DH1 postcode area.
