Girls Who Grind Coffee is an independent, female-founded speciality coffee roastery founded in 2017 by Casey LaLonde, who moved to the UK from upstate New York in 2009. Co-founded originally with Fi O'Brien, the business operates on a single sourcing principle: 100% of its coffees come from women producers, with a focus on visibility, representation and celebration of female decision-makers in an industry where they are rarely acknowledged.
Casey's background includes time in a cupping lab and roastery and assisting on Q-Grader courses. The current range draws on producers and collectives across Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Mexico and El Salvador, including Beatriz Guimaraes, Patricia Coelho, Wubit Bekele and the Mercedes Olivera Feminist Collective.
Roasts span lighter single origins through to a dark roast, Oh My Goth, alongside a house espresso, a decaf and a half-caff. The company sells online with subscriptions, supplies wholesale accounts, and produces a non-alcoholic coffee stout under the Girls Who Grain sub-brand.
