Loch Lomond Coffee Co. was founded in 2017 by brothers Stuart and David Fraser in Balmaha, on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond. The roastery grew out of their St Mocha coffee shop, which they had opened in 2014, when they decided to roast their own beans rather than continue buying in.
The site runs on an unusual self-contained sustainability model. Spent coffee grounds are dried, pelleted and burned in the biomass system that heats the premises, and over 300 solar panels generate the power that charges the electric vehicles used for deliveries.
The range covers single origins from Brazil, Guatemala, Ethiopia and Costa Rica, alongside blends including the St Mocha Blend and a Dark Roast House Blend, plus a speciality decaf and an instant coffee. Beans are sold online with fortnightly, three-weekly or monthly subscriptions, and the St Mocha coffee shop continues to operate from the same Balmaha site.
