Roost Coffee and Roastery is based in Talbot Yard in Malton, North Yorkshire, a food and drink destination housed in an 18th Century Grade II listed carriage house. The business was founded by David and Ruth, who sold their home in Lincolnshire in 2011 and relocated to North Yorkshire specifically to build something in specialty coffee.

They ran a café for three years before establishing Roost as a combined roastery and espresso bar in 2015. The roastery roasts entirely on electricity, which distinguishes it from the majority of roasters that use gas-fired equipment.

It holds the Living Wage Foundation accreditation for its team. Ruth sits on the committee for the Indy Coffee Guide North, Midlands, and East.

Roost offers barista training, subscriptions, equipment, and a café bar within Talbot Yard, giving it a full community presence in a market town that has developed a strong food reputation.
