Baytown Coffee Company roasts daily in a converted cowshed on a family farm just outside Whitby, on the North Yorkshire coast. The roastery was set up in 2019 by Nick and Ann Louise, who live on the farm with their four children and three dogs.
The seaside setting on the edge of the North York Moors National Park shapes the brand, with coffee names drawn from the local coastline. The operation focuses on subscriptions and online retail, with wholesale supply to independent coffee shops and eateries across Yorkshire and the UK.
Green beans are bought directly from independent farmers and importers, with named partner regions including Guaxupé in Brazil and Antioquia and Huila in Colombia. Baytown pays above Fairtrade minimums and works on longer-term contracts to give growers more stability.
Coffee bags are now recyclable, the team ships with reduced packaging, and the company runs an annual Baytown Beach Clean each April to support its local community.
