Smugglers Drop is a Hastings roastery built around a single brand world: contraband coffee. Founder Bryn Robinson started the business in 2012, drawing on the town's smuggling history and the labyrinth of secret caves under it.

The line-up is named like a deck of cards: Jack of Clubs (Colombia), Ace of Clubs (Brazil), King of Hearts (Rwanda), Queen of Hearts (Nicaraguan decaf) and The Joker (Ethiopia), all single origin and described as fully traceable. The brand sets out three commitments: weekly roasts, green-energy roasting, and farms chosen for conservation.

Bags are fully recyclable, larger wholesale orders move in reusable closed-loop containers, and gift subscriptions run over three or six months.
