Adams & Russell

Adams + Russell have roasted coffee from 8 Appin Road on Birkenhead's Argyle Industrial Estate since 1978, neighbours to the old Cammell Laird shipyards. The site frames that location as historically apt: shipping built Birkenhead, and shipping still moves the world's coffee.

Head roaster Andy joined in 2012 as a local customer and now oversees every bean in and out of the roasting house. They are SCA members, run SCA certified barista courses, and roast over 50 origins across three ranges, espresso blends, single origins, and fully traceable single plantation lots with cupping scores.

Sourcing affiliations include Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, and women's cooperatives such as AMPROCAL. Their single decaf is a Mexico Chiapas lot processed by Mountain Water, a chemical free method using a saturated green solution and charcoal filtration.

Wholesale covers consultation, equipment supply and servicing, barista training, bespoke blends, and white labelling. The roastery is open to the public Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Awards include Two Gold Stars at the Great Taste Awards for the Peninsula Blend.
