Eve MacFarlane founded Argyll Coffee Roasters in 2018, roasting on a Diedrich IR-12 from a unit on Kames Industrial Estate on the Kintyre Peninsula. The team of four (Eve, head roaster Michael Hartley, and roastery assistants Inge Bos and Arlo Anderson) are SCA-trained across green coffee, barista, brewing and roasting.

Their two house blends have both picked up Great Taste Awards: Clyde Steamer espresso (2021, plus Silver at the Great British Food Awards 2024) and Argyll's Secret Roast filter (2022). They roast on Mondays and Wednesdays, dispatching wholesale orders to order, and offer 250g tins alongside fully recyclable bags.

Recent single origins include Guatemala San Jose Ocana, El Salvador Finca Espana, and Ethiopia Aragash Gelcha, with a 2024 origin trip to Colombia. The roastery's coffee bar sits in the Hayshed Gallery, which HRH The Princess Royal has visited.

Visits to the roastery itself are by appointment. Subscriptions and wholesale are both available.
