Campervan Coffee Co was established in 2015 by a founder who, after travelling Europe and North Africa with his wife in their 1976 VW Bay Window Campervan called Rolf, set up Hermitage Road in Hitchin, a coffee shop named by The Independent as one of the UK's top 50. The roastery is based in a converted barn in Hertfordshire, roughly 30 minutes from both London and Cambridge, where the team roasts coffee, runs barista training and lets prospective wholesale customers trial Conti espresso machines before committing.
The business supplies coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, pubs and B&Bs alongside espresso machines and grinders, with a complete coffee bar set up service. The range covers house blends and a rotating selection of single origins, sold wholesale, retail and via the online shop.
The name comes from Rolf, used in the early days to bring speciality coffee to street food markets.
