Coffee Bay is the retail and consumer brand of Traders Coffee Ltd, a Surbiton-based business founded by John Green, who began roasting on a 3lb Uno in 1986 after opening his first Coffee and Tea shop on Victoria Road in 1980.
Coffee Bay is the retail and consumer brand of Traders Coffee Ltd, a Surbiton-based business founded by John Green, who began roasting on a 3lb Uno in 1986 after opening his first Coffee and Tea shop on Victoria Road in 1980. The roastery at 274 Ewell Road now runs a Probat 60 drum roaster alongside a Neuhaus Neotec fluid bed air roaster, producing close to 200 tonnes of coffee a year for more than 1,000 customers across the South East.
Beans are sourced from the coffee belt across the Americas, Africa and Asia, with a growing share described as ethically sourced. The roasting team, led by Jason and Eric, has more than 50 years of combined experience.
Beyond coffee, Traders Coffee Ltd is the UK distributor for Astoria Espresso, Rocket Espresso, Eureka, Mazzer and Bunn, with a service team maintaining around 300 rental machines. In February 2021 the business transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust, sharing ownership with the team that built it.
