Coffee roasters in Surrey

Surrey has 8 independent coffee roasters spread across the county, from Surbiton at the London edge through Guildford, Woking and Cobham to the wine estate at Dorking. The mix is heavily commuter belt with a green underlay. The roastery at Denbies Wine Estate is B Corp and net zero certified; one of the older Surrey names has a forty year track record in the trade; and the rural roasters cluster around farm settings and the Surrey Hills.

Chimney Fire Coffee operates from Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, the UK's first net zero certified wine estate, and is itself a B Corp net zero roastery; founder Dan Webber spent several years in coffee and cocoa traceability before setting up the business in 2017. Coffee Bay is the retail and consumer facing brand of Traders Coffee Ltd, a Surrey based business with over forty years in the trade; the company roasts and packs nearly 200 tonnes of coffee a year from its Surbiton roastery, supplying more than 1,000 customers across the South East. Copper Coffee Roasters started in Richmond in 2019 and moved to Bramley Hedge Farm in Cobham, where the roastery shares the farm site with a coffee shop in a converted barn, giving it an unusual rural character for a specialty roaster in the commuter belt.

Several Surrey roasters operate cafes or shops on the same site as their roastery (Coffee Bay in Surbiton, Copper at Bramley Hedge Farm, Chimney Fire at Denbies, Redber in Guildford). The commuter belt geography means most are within easy reach of London, which shows in how many supply venues over the city border alongside their county base.
