Colonna Coffee

Colonna Coffee is a Bath-based roastery founded by Maxwell and Lesley Colonna-Dashwood. The story began in Australia in 2008 before the couple opened their flagship cafe, Colonna and Small's, in Bath in 2009.

The roastery launched in 2015 to give them more control over sourcing and flavour profiling, and a second cafe followed on Leather Lane in London in 2023. Maxwell won the UK Barista Championship in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and the Bath cafe was named Best Coffee Shop in Europe in 2016.

Research is central to the business, with co-authored published papers on water chemistry, frozen grinding, sensory science and sustainability, alongside the Peak Water Project and pioneering specialty capsule work from 2016. The range spans single origin and blend beans, espresso and lungo capsules, instant coffee and brewing equipment, with seasonal SOLO and TRIO releases and a quarterly Limited Release Rare series.

Used capsules can be recycled free through Podback in the UK.
