EDGE Tea & Coffee is a third-generation, family-run roastery near Arundel in West Sussex, founded in 1981 by Frank Edgcumbe-Rendle, who created the first blend, Rusper, at his kitchen table after returning from India. His son Chris joined in 1987, followed by Alice in 1988, and the business was incorporated in 1989.
Today it operates from The Old Barn, a refurbished Dutch barn on Ford Lane, where coffee is roasted on a bespoke 30kg Giesen called Wolfie, alongside an older roaster known as Big Bertha. The range covers single origins, house blends and loose leaf teas, with the Sussex Barn blend winning six Great Taste Awards.
EDGE has a roastery store and cafe at the barn, EDGE by the Sea in Littlehampton, and partner sites at Chichester Bike Project and Graylingwell Chapel. Coffee is sourced from sustainable farms, sold direct, by subscription with 15% off, and through trade.
Packaging is described as 100% recyclable.
