Founded in 1819 in the Cumbrian market town of Kendal, Farrer's is one of the UK's longest-standing tea and coffee merchants and trades as John Farrer & Co (Kendal) Ltd. The business began as a small roasting and blending operation on Stricklandgate and has run continuously from the same Lake District base for more than two centuries, with several house blends descended from recipes refined across generations.

Today the roastery supplies independent cafés, hotels, restaurants and farm shops as well as selling direct, with a range that spans single origins, blends, espresso and decaffeinated coffees alongside the original tea offer. Sourcing is described as considered and responsible, working with long-term producer partners on quality and ethics.

The Mountain Water Decaffeinated Coffee sits alongside a Fairtrade decaf instant in the decaf line. Visitors can book Coffee Roastery Experience Days and professional barista training at the Kendal site.
