Firebird Coffee Company is a small batch speciality roastery based at 71 to 75 Shelton Street in central London, founded by Henry, a former Army officer who later worked in international development in conflict zones. The business sources single origin coffees from farmers and cooperatives in regions affected by war or environmental disaster, with current offerings from Rwanda, Colombia, Ethiopia and Guatemala.
Named producer partners include Rwanda Horizon, Inza Cauca cooperative in Colombia, Tariku Mengesha at Rocko Mountain in Ethiopia and the Red de Mujeres women's collective in Guatemala. Green coffee is bought through speciality trader Falcon Coffees, with stated plans to expand into more direct sourcing over time.
Roasting is done in house on an Aillio Bullet R1 V2 electric roaster, with light to medium profiles aimed at filter and espresso. Coffee ships in letterbox friendly, resealable Dutch Coffee Pack pouches that are described as CO2 neutral through offset projects in producing regions.
The roastery occasionally opens for tours and tastings.
