The Flat Cap Coffee Roasting Company was founded in 2018 by Mark and Alex, a husband and wife team based in rural Wiltshire. Mark served in the British Army for 23 years before being discharged with PTSD, and the business grew from time spent in coffee shops during his readjustment, leading first to home roasting and then to a commercial roastery.
The name comes from the flat cap that replaced Mark's army beret as a daily signature. The roastery sits tucked away in the rolling hills of Wiltshire and works in small batches, cupping every batch before release.
The range covers single origins from Colombia, Peru, India, Indonesia, Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia, Nicaragua and Kenya, alongside house blends. Named lots include Los Amigos from Peru, Zawadi Peaberry from Kenya, Las Morenitas from Nicaragua and Munchique Los Tigres from Colombia.
Decaf options use the Swiss Water process. Coffee subscriptions and wholesale accounts are available, with collection from the roastery by prior arrangement.
The founders post on Instagram as @flatcapcoffeeroastery.
