Ground Coffee Society roasts coffee by hand in Wandsworth, London. It began in 2009 in a drum shop in Putney, where founder Dave installed a coffee machine, the drinkers outnumbered the drum buyers, and by about 2015 the team were roasting their own coffee.

Today the coffee is sold online, through wholesale partners such as Lockdown Bakehouse, DropShot and St Mary's Putney, and at events: the team have served coffee at the Queen's tennis championships since 2017 and the British Grand Prix since 2018, and roast a Fairtrade certified blend for The Open. The range is single origin, with coffees from Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, a Caveman House Espresso sourced entirely from women farmers through the Cafe Delas programme, and a sugarcane process Colombian decaf.

Sourcing runs through AtSource by Covoya certification and the company is Soil Association certified. Wholesale partners get barista training and machine support, and the roastery runs a home barista course.
