Joe Black Coffee

Joe Black Coffee and Tea is a Liverpool roaster with roots going back to 1950, when the business traded as Bellews and Co Merchants. The roastery sits on Millers Bridge Industrial Estate in Bootle, with a second operation in Manchester.

It uses traditional flame roasting and packs to order, producing espresso blends, single origins, loose-leaf teas, and hot chocolate from beans sourced in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, and other origins. The business positions itself around ethical sourcing, working with farms it describes as committed to regenerative agriculture and with suppliers it says share its values on quality, sustainability, and fair practice.

It sells direct to consumers online and supplies trade customers including cafes, restaurants, hotels, and offices. Alongside coffee and tea, the company offers commercial machine servicing, bespoke blend development, and barista training, drawing on more than seventy years of continuous Liverpool roasting heritage.
