Lucid Coffee Roasters is based at Unit 5, Kennedy Way, Belfast, and was founded in 2021 by Stephen Houston, a coffee professional with twelve years in the industry across competition, judging and events. Houston's competition record includes the Irish Brewers Cup Championship in 2017 and 2019, the Irish AeroPress Championship in 2019, third place at the Irish Cup Tasters Championship in 2026, and second place at the UK SCA Roasting Championships in 2023.

The roastery's operating philosophy centres on transparency. Lucid publishes green coffee FOB prices, roast profiles with agtron readings, and a yearly transparency report.

Producer relationships include Mio in Brazil, Cofinet and Osito in Colombia, Karst Organics in Timor-Leste, and Indochina Coffee, with named farms such as Volcan Azul in Costa Rica. Coffees cover espresso and filter, with subscriptions available.

Bags use rice paper from renewable sources with recyclable degassing valves and packaging.
