Tony Brammer started Piccolos as a handmade cake bakery in 1994, growing it through local markets, food fairs and agricultural shows before adding freshly roasted coffee in 2001. Piccolo Espresso Bar followed in 2011, and the business now operates exclusively from that site.
Coffee is roasted by the owner alongside the cafe, and the espresso bar is described on the site as award-winning. The current line-up includes ethically sourced Arabica from origins such as Colombia, Peru and Tanzania, with a Finca El Eucalipto lot from Peru featured on the shop.
The decaf is a Colombia Huila processed using ethyl acetate rather than chemical solvents.
