Podda & Wren

Podda & Wren is a specialty coffee roaster based at 4 Elephant Yard in Kendal, Cumbria, on the edge of the Lake District. Co-directors Ash and Jonathan, alongside roastery assistant Jem, run the operation, having evolved from Jonathan's earlier Fellside Coffee venture.

The team roasts on eco-friendly electric-powered air roasters, a deliberate alternative to traditional drum roasting. Sourcing is direct trade where possible, with Ash emphasising fair prices paid to farmers without going through brokers.

The lineup spans single origins such as Colombia's Penas Blancas, a Papua New Guinea Paradise Mountain decaf processed using sugarcane, plus the Fellside espresso blend and a half-caff option. The roastery shop opens Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm, with subscriptions, wholesale, equipment and workshops available alongside coffee.
