After years of travel and multiple SCA courses in brewing, sensory analysis, roasting and coffee science, he returned home to build it.
The brand is a reaction against the pretentious side of speciality coffee and the ethical shortcomings of big coffee. The range includes single origin coffees from Colombia, Ethiopia, Honduras and Uganda, sold as blends, espresso and filter.
It only roasts specialty grade coffee. A subscription gives a discount on ongoing orders.
Wholesale supply goes to cafes, bars and other businesses, roasted to order in small batches, with free brew training for partners. It gives 1% of net profit each to Big Brother Watch and Project Waterfall.
