Roost Coffee and Roastery operates from two sites in Malton, North Yorkshire. The espresso bar sits in Talbot Yard, a Grade II listed carriage house renovated in 2014 that has become part of the town's growing food and drink quarter.
The roastery is a short distance away on Malton Enterprise Park, where David and Ruth roast on a Giesen W15E and a smaller Giesen W6E. Both machines are 100 per cent electric, paired with on-site solar panels since 2023.
The pair met in Cleethorpes in 2004 and ran a coffee shop for three years before founding Roost in 2015. The team now numbers around ten.
Sourcing draws on origins including Peru, Mexico, Bali, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Tanzania, with named partners such as Finca San Jose, Karana and Chelbesa. Decaf is offered through the Swiss Water process.
Spent bags are recycled via TerraCycle, and the business is a Living Wage Foundation supporter. Roastery visits are by appointment.
