Sunday Coffee Roasters is an independent speciality coffee roaster based in the Old Chicken Shed behind Southbourne Farm Shop, on the border of Hampshire and West Sussex. The story began in 2014 when the founder and a friend opened a speciality coffee shop in Portsmouth called Canvas Coffee; inconsistent results led the founder to train in coffee roasting, including SCA training and a workshop with Scott Rao.
Roasting began in 2015 on a small 2.4kg machine nicknamed Tony, done on Sundays when the shop was closed, hence the name. It later slot roasted at Pharmacie Coffee Roasters in Brighton from 2019 to 2022, and has roasted on a Probat since.
The single origin range includes coffees from Kenya, Colombia, Brazil and El Salvador. Alongside retail sales and a subscription, it runs a wholesale service for cafes, restaurants and workplaces in Hampshire and West Sussex, delivering in reusable tubs where possible.
