The Gentlemen Baristas was founded in London in 2014 by Henry Ayers and Edward Parkes, drawing on the heritage of the London coffee house as a place for conversation and considered hospitality. The roastery sits within the railway arches at Cannon Street Road in Shadwell, with multiple coffee houses across the capital and a Coffee School running barista courses on site for home brewers and professionals.

The team positions itself around what it calls well mannered coffee, a tone of civility that runs through the cafes, the wholesale work and the brand. Beyond retail and subscriptions, the business supports wholesale partners with equipment sourcing, installation, grinder calibration, staff training and ongoing audits, taking the journey from green bean to cup as a single piece of work.
