Birch

Birch is a speciality coffee shop and eatery based in Portree on the Isle of Skye. It was set up by Niall Munro in 2020, inspired by trips to Melbourne, with the aim of bringing a Melbourne style cafe approach together with locally sourced products from the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

The coffee roastery opened in 2021 and now supplies a range of coffee for home brewing as well as the cafe itself. Birch sources speciality coffee that can be traced back to the grower, and hand roasts it in small batches.

The range includes single origin coffees, a decaf and a coffee subscription. Birch also runs a second coffee shop in Inverness, welcomes cafes and businesses interested in stocking the coffee wholesale, and offers training and career progression to staff.
