Caribe Coffee Co. is a family business based at Fairmoor in Morpeth, Northumberland, founded in 2018 by Wilmer Carcamo, who grew up in Honduras, and his wife Elle, originally from Northumberland. The couple met in the Cayman Islands in 2014 and relocated to the UK to access healthcare for their son.
Caribe sources exclusively from Honduran family farms, working directly with producers in a market where Honduran coffee remains underrepresented in the UK speciality sector. The roastery uses a 1kg gas roaster and operates a second site in George Town, Grand Cayman.
The business started at a market stall in Morpeth, where Wilmer won the National Young Market grocery award in 2019, before featuring on Dragons' Den on BBC One and growing to over 30,000 customers. The range covers blends, specialty SHG lots and microlots from named farms across Honduras, plus a Swiss Water decaf.
Caribe also supplies wholesale, runs a subscription, and offers a franchise model for people starting their own coffee business.
