Crude Coffee Roasters has been roasting speciality coffee near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, since 2015. The business was started by childhood friends Ben and Richard, whose backgrounds as a former chef and recording engineer, alongside product development and business management experience, shaped the company.
It began under the name Frank and Earnest, roasting in a small garden shed, before moving through a former brewery building and a small warehouse and, by 2022, into its current home in Fornham St Genevieve, where it now roasts on a 70kg Loring Smart Roaster. Coffees on offer include a Ugandan Bukonzo Dream sourced from farmers working with the organisation Agri Evolve, a Brazil House Espresso, and single origins from Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia and a Mexico Mountain Water decaf.
Crude Coffee Roasters offers coffee subscriptions and wholesale partnerships with equipment and training support.
