Ethical Addictions Coffee Roasters is a small family business roasting speciality coffee from a unit on Bamfurlong Industrial Park in Staverton, Gloucestershire, between Cheltenham and Gloucester. The team set up in 2006 and built the model around buying directly from farms and villages rather than working through certification schemes or traders.
They publish the names of producers they work with and explain how much farmers are paid, which sits at the heart of their case for direct trade over Fairtrade. Sourcing relationships include Orera Village on Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (since 2010), Machare Farm in Tanzania, Boyo in Cameroon, Vira Mao and Jacutinga in Brazil, and La Primavera and Gacheta in Colombia.
They are certified by Happerley Transparent, the food provenance scheme, and say they are the first coffee roaster to hold it. The roastery is open to visitors Monday to Friday for click and collect, including bring your own container, with scheduled tours through 2026 and into 2027.
They sell direct to consumers, run subscriptions, and supply trade customers and churches.
