Coffee roasters in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire has 8 independent coffee roasters, anchored by Cheltenham (Ritual) and reaching out across the Cotswolds (Stow Town, Fire & Flow), into Stroud (Golden Sheep, Noni's), Cirencester (Rave) and Staverton (Ethical Addictions). The mix is unusually opinionated. One roastery deliberately keeps prices below other specialty operations at the same quality bar; another runs on a "fewer clients, more attention" model with personal delivery; a third is named for the local sheep breed.

Rave Coffee, in Cirencester, takes a deliberately straightforward position: blends scoring 82 points or above on the SCA scale, single origins 84 or above, and prices kept lower than most roasters at a comparable quality level by design rather than accident. Stow Town Coffee has been roasting in Stow-on-the-Wold since 2010 and runs what it calls the Jerry Maguire approach: only a handful of wholesale accounts at any one time, with personal delivery by the roastery team. Golden Sheep Coffee was started in 2018 by Michael, a composite laminator who spent more than 30 years building cars for F1 motorsport teams before leaving to roast in the Stroud Valleys; the name references the Cotswold Lion, the local sheep breed whose golden fleece powered Stroud's wool industry for centuries.

Cheltenham (Ritual) and the Cotswolds (Stow-on-the-Wold, Fire & Flow) have the easiest visitor access. Stroud (Golden Sheep, Noni's) and Cirencester (Rave) reward a country detour. Several Gloucestershire roasters supply farm shops, delis and the county's extensive hospitality scene alongside online retail.
